CAMPIONATO ITALIANO CIK ACI – VAL VIBRATA
Nel week-end 22-25 Settembre, sul Kartodromo Val Vibrata, si è corso l’ultimo appuntamento del Campionato Italiano CIK ACI a cui abbiamo partecipato nella categoria KZ2. Dopo un giovedì passato a rodare il kart ed a trovare una quadra col setup del veicolo, nella qualifica del venerdì inizia a vedersi un miglioramento delle prestazioni con la conquista della 15esima posizione in griglia.
Nel Warm-up di sabato mattina si sbroglia il bandolo della matassa e la prestazione che ne consegue è ottima: 6° tempo senza mai tirare al massimo del potenziale.
Nella prima manche di sabato una brutta partenza rischia di rovinare tutto, ma grazie ad un buon recupero e ad una grande battaglia con altri 2 concorrenti per tutta la gara terminiamo al 12esimo posto.
Purtroppo nella seconda manche di sabato la partenza è anche peggiore della prima e perdiamo ben 7 posizioni, il che ci porta a dover fare tutta la gara in rimonta e perdendo tempo nelle battaglie di centro gruppo concludendo al 13esimo posto sotto la bandiera a scacchi.
Fiduciosi di poter migliorare la prestazione generale grazie ad alcune regolazioni la prima manche della domenica ci vede partire dalla 15esima posizione e finire… nella medesima posizione. La gara in realtà è stata tra le più dure della stagione agonisticamente parlando per la battaglia, durata dal primo all’ultimo giro, intrapresa tra Alex e altri 5 piloti (il tutto sempre con il massimo rispetto e correttezza).
Nel pomeriggio si è svolta la Finale: la gara è iniziata nel migliore dei modi con una grande partenza dal 15esimo all’8° posto… ma il cordolo della prima curva ha mantenuto il kart sull’erba facendoci precipitare dall’8° posto al 29esimo (ultimo). Nonostante questo inizio di gara terrificante, non ci siamo persi d’animo e soprasso dopo sorpasso, con grande caparbietà, abbiamo terminato la corsa al 18esimo posto.
Nonostante le posizioni ottenute non siano altisonanti, il carattere e la tenacia dimostrata in pista e fuori, da tutto il gruppo ci dà grande speranza per il proseguo della stagione.
On the weekend of September 22nd-25th, the last round of the CIK ACI Italian Championship took place on the Val Vibrata Kartodrome in which we participated in the KZ2 category. After a Thursday spent breaking in the kart and finding a balance with the vehicle setup, an improvement in performance began to be seen in qualifying on Friday with the conquest of 15th position on the grid.
In the Warm-up on Saturday morning the crux of the matter unraveled and the resulting performance was excellent: 6th time without ever shooting at full potential.
In the first heat on Saturday a bad start risks ruining everything, but thanks to a good recovery and a great battle with 2 other competitors throughout the race we finish in 12th place.
Unfortunately in the second heat on Saturday the start is even worse than the first and we lose 7 positions, which leads us to have to make a comeback throughout the race and wasting time in the battles in the center of the group, finishing in 13th place under the checkered flag.
Confident of being able to improve the general performance thanks to some adjustments, the first heat on Sunday sees us starting from the 15th position and finishing… in the same position. In reality, the race was one of the toughest of the season from a competitive point of view due to the battle between Alex and 5 other riders, which lasted from the first to the last lap (always with the utmost respect and fairness).
The Final took place in the afternoon: the race started in the best possible way with a great start from 15th to 8th place… but the curb of the first corner kept the kart on the grass making us fall from 8th place to 29th (last). Despite this terrifying start to the race, we didn’t lose heart and overtaking after overtaking, with great stubbornness, we finished the race in 18th place.
Although the positions obtained are not impressive, the character and tenacity shown on and off the track by the whole group gives us great hope for the continuation of the season.
