Nonostante un epilogo in crescendo, il giovane pilota DR Racing Kart paga a caro prezzo alcuni episodi di gara sfavorevoli e vede sfumare l’accesso alla Finale
Anche le delusioni servono per crescere e migliorare, in un percorso di apprendistato che ha comunque già lasciato intravedere ottime potenzialità per il futuro. La sfida di Alex Zucco nel round conclusivo della WSK Final Cup, andata in scena sul Franciacorta Racing Kart di Castrezzato (Brescia), non ha riservato le soddisfazioni auspicate alla vigilia per il giovane pilota milanese. Nonostante la costante crescita messa in mostra nel corso del fine settimana, il portacolori del DR Racing Kart è stato condizionato da alcuni episodi di gara poco fortunati che gli hanno impedito di centrare l’obiettivo della qualificazione alla Finale.
Il 16enne driver del team diretto da Danilo Rossi ha inoltre pagato lo scotto dell’inesperienza su un tracciato lungo il quale molti dei protagonisti presenti in gara si erano già cimentati nel corso della settimana precedente, acquisendo un livello di confidenza che a conti fatti si è rivelato decisivo nell’attribuzione dei valori in campo. Per Alex rimane comunque la consapevolezza di aver tratto indicazioni utili per il futuro, grazie anche al fatto di aver nuovamente gareggiato in un contesto di grande prestigio e di essersi misurato con i migliori specialisti della categoria KZ2 a livello internazionale.
Dopo una proficua prima giornata di test svolta lungo i 1300 metri dell’impianto bresciano, Zucco è sceso in pista nella giornata di Venerdì 24 Novembre determinato ad ottenere il migliore piazzamento nel corso della sessione di qualifica. Sfortunatamente, un problema di tempistiche nell’uscita dai box gli ha impedito di accodarsi al “treno” dei migliori, impedendogli di avere dei riferimenti visivi davanti a sé e dunque di sfruttare la scia degli avversari. Alla fine, il crono di 46.644 si è rivelato al di sotto delle aspettative, impedendogli di andare oltre un piazzamento in quindicesima fila nella prima manche eliminatoria, in programma nel primo pomeriggio.
Dopo essersi reso autore di una buona partenza, il suo tentativo di rimonta è stato subito condizionato nel corso del primo giro da un colpo ricevuto da un avversario, che ha compromesso la stabilità del suo kart impedendogli di girare su un passo competitivo. Complice una penalità di 5” rimediata a fine gara per i danni rimediati al musetto, la 29esima posizione finale ha messo Zucco nelle condizioni di dover impostare per l’indomani una strategia completamente votata all’attacco.
La seconda manche eliminatoria ha visto Alex lottare con il coltello tra i denti, ma una nuova penalità post-gara (inflitta sempre per lo stesso motivo del giorno precedente) ha vanificato buona parte delle posizioni recuperate nel corso dei 13 giri. Per lui l’obiettivo di centrare la qualificazione alla Finale, vista la sfavorevole posizione sulla griglia di partenza, si è quindi rivelata una vera e propria “mission impossibile”: ciò nonostante, Zucco si è reso autore nella Prefinale di una prova coraggiosa e gagliarda, al termine della quale ha concluso al 15° posto sotto la bandiera a scacchi recuperando ben sette posizioni. Un risultato sicuramente incoraggiante, ma purtroppo non sufficiente per garantirgli un posto nella sfida finale della manifestazione.

In più, anch’io ho commesso sicuramente qualche errore che cercherò di non ripetere e che mi hanno fatto perdere l’opportunità di conquistare un posto in finale. In ogni caso, l’esperienza accumulata è stata molto utile e di certo rappresenta un bagaglio importante in vista del futuro. A DIFFICULT WEEKEND FOR ALEX ZUCCO IN THE WSK FINAL CUP IN FRANCIACORTA
Despite a growing epilogue, the young DR Racing Kart driver pays a high price for some unfavorable race episodes and sees his access to the Final fade away
Even disappointments are used to grow and improve, in an apprenticeship path that has already revealed excellent potential for the future. Alex Zucco’s challenge in the final round of the WSK Final Cup, staged at the Franciacorta Racing Kart in Castrezzato (Brescia), did not bring the satisfaction hoped for on the eve of the young Milanese driver. Despite the constant growth shown over the weekend, the DR Racing Kart driver was affected by some unlucky racing episodes which prevented him from achieving the objective of qualifying for the Final.
The 16-year-old driver of the team directed by Danilo Rossi also paid the price of inexperience on a track along which many of the protagonists present in the race had already tried their hand during the previous week, acquiring a level of confidence that in all things proved decisive in the attribution of values on the field. For Alex, however, the awareness of having drawn useful indications for the future remains, thanks also to the fact of having once again competed in a highly prestigious context and of having competed with the best specialists in the KZ2 category at an international level.
After a fruitful first day of testing carried out along the 1300 meters of the Brescia circuit, Zucco took to the track on Friday 24 November determined to obtain the best placing during the qualifying session. Unfortunately, a timing problem in exiting the pits prevented him from following the “train” of the best, preventing him from having visual references in front of him and therefore from exploiting the wake of his rivals. In the end, his time of 46.644 proved to be below expectations, preventing him from going beyond a fifteenth row placement in the first qualifying heat, scheduled for early afternoon.
After making a good start, his comeback attempt was immediately affected during the first lap by a blow from an opponent, which compromised the stability of his kart, preventing him from lapping at a competitive pace. Thanks to a 5″ penalty received at the end of the race for the damage to the nose, the 29th final position put Zucco in the position of having to set up a strategy completely dedicated to attack for the following day.
The second qualifying heat saw Alex fighting with a knife between his teeth, but a new post-race penalty (inflicted again for the same reason as the previous day) nullified a good part of the positions recovered during the 13 laps. For him, the objective of achieving qualification for the Final, given the unfavorable position on the starting grid, therefore proved to be a true “mission impossible”: nevertheless, Zucco performed a courageous and vigorous performance in the Prefinal , at the end of which he finished in 15th place under the checkered flag, recovering seven positions. An certainly encouraging result, but unfortunately not enough to guarantee him a place in the final challenge of the event.

Alex Zucco will return to action for the last round of the 2023 season on the occasion of the 28th edition of the ‘Ayrton Senna Trophy’, scheduled for the Napoli International Circuit in Sarno from 8 to 10 December.
