Splendida prestazione da parte del pilota DR Racing Kart, che sul Circuito Valle del Liri di Arce ottiene la quinta piazza assoluta ed il titolo tricolore di categoria nella KZ2
Fine settimana da incorniciare per Alex Zucco, autore di una prova eccellente nella Coppa Italia ACI Karting andata in scena sul Circuito Valle del Liri di Arce (Frosinone). Il giovane pilota milanese, reduce dalle incoraggianti prestazioni messe a segno nel corso della stagione sia in ambito nazionale che nel contesto internazionale, ha infatti conquistato il titolo nella categoria Under 18 dopo aver concluso la Finale con una splendida quinta posizione assoluta. Per il 16enne portacolori del DR Racing Kart si tratta del giusto e meritato premio dopo un’annata di grande crescita, suggellata nel migliore dei modi da una grintosa prestazione messa a segno in uno degli appuntamenti più prestigiosi del panorama kartistico tricolore.
Zucco ha messo in mostra le proprie doti su un tracciato particolarmente insidioso ed impegnativo anche dal punto di vista fisico, riuscendo ad inanellare una serie di ottimi sorpassi nonostante una pista dalla carreggiata piuttosto stretta e distinguendosi nelle fasi di bagarre in tutte le manche disputate. Il tutto in un weekend che lo ha visto progressivamente crescere dal punto di vista della performance sul giro, al punto da avvicinarsi costantemente alle posizioni di testa sino allo splendido epilogo della Finale, al termine della quale si è tolto la grande soddisfazione di salire finalmente sul podio e ricevere il trofeo riservato al vincitore della categoria Under 18.
Dopo una prima giornata in cui il giovane driver di Buccinasco ha incontrato qualche difficoltà nel trovare il giusto feeling con la pista, le cose hanno iniziato a prendere una piega giusta a partire dalle qualifiche, svoltesi nella mattinata di Sabato 14 Ottobre. In questa circostanza, Alex è riuscito a stampare un discreto 16° tempo con il best lap personale di 45.403, grazie al quale si è collocato in ottava fila al via della prima manche di qualificazione. Subito partito con il coltello tra i denti, Zucco ha recuperato ben cinque posizioni nelle prime fasi, prima che la gara venisse sospesa in seguito ad un incidente con l’esposizione della bandiera rossa. Scontata una penalità per il danno subìto al musetto e ripartito dalla 15esima casella, il milanese è riuscito a recuperare altre tre posizioni prima della bandiera a scacchi, che lo ha visto transitare in dodicesima piazza sul traguardo. Una performance altrettanto convincente è poi arrivata nella manche seguente, che ha visto Zucco rendersi protagonista di una splendida serie di sorpassi grazie ai quali è risalito fino all’ottavo posto.
Ormai consapevole delle proprie potenzialità, il giovane portacolori DR Racing Kart è tornato alla carica nella giornata di Domenica con l’obiettivo di recuperare ulteriore terreno e recitare un ruolo da protagonista nelle primissime posizioni del gruppo. La Prefinale, disputatasi in mattinata, lo ha visto infatti scattare dalla decima posizione e rendersi autore di un piccolo capolavoro, grazie al quale ha chiuso la gara con un’ottima quinta posizione sul traguardo. Grazie a questo piazzamento, Zucco ha quindi avuto l’opportunità di scattare dalla terza fila nell’attesissima Finale, che ha messo in palio la Coppa Italia e trasmessa in diretta televisiva nazionale. Dopo una buona partenza, Alex ha messo in mostra un passo gara che gli ha consentito di stare a ridosso dei primi, senza commettere alcun errore e mantenendo la leadership nella graduatoria Under 18 sino al traguardo. La bandiera a scacchi lo ha quindi visto transitare in quinta piazza assoluta, incoronandolo poi vincitore nella propria categoria durante le premiazioni svoltesi sul podio.

Il weekend non era iniziato nel migliore dei modi, visto che la prima giornata mi ha visto faticare un po’ nel prendere le misure della pista. Una volta superato questo ostacolo, grazie anche all’aiuto del team le cose sono decisamente migliorate: le manche di qualificazione mi hanno visto recuperare molte posizioni, su una pista particolarmente sconnessa e anche esigente dal punto di vista fisico. Sono poi riuscito a conquistare un posto in terza fila per la Finale di Domenica, nel corso della quale ho gareggiato con un ottimo passo andando a cogliere il miglior risultato stagionale! Desidero rivolgere un grosso ringraziamento al mio team DR Racing Kart ed in particolare a Danilo Rossi ed al mio meccanico, così come al mio preparatore di Athletica Sports e a tutti gli sponsor che sono al nostro fianco in questo progetto. AN UNSTOPPABLE ALEX ZUCCO WINS THE UNDER 18 TITLE IN THE ACI KARTING ITALIAN CUP
Excellent performance by the DR Racing Kart driver, who obtained fifth place overall and the Italian category title in KZ2 on the Valle del Liri Circuit in Arce
Weekend to remember for Alex Zucco, author of an excellent performance in the ACI Karting Italian Cup which took place on the Valle del Liri Circuit in Arce (Frosinone). The young Milanese driver, fresh from the encouraging performances achieved during the season both nationally and internationally, has in fact won the title in the Under 18 category after concluding the Final with a splendid fifth position overall. For the 16-year-old representative of DR Racing Kart, this is the right and deserved reward after a year of great growth, sealed in the best possible way by a spirited performance achieved in one of the most prestigious events in the Italian karting scene.
Zucco showed off his skills on a particularly treacherous and demanding track from a physical point of view, managing to string together a series of excellent overtaking despite a track with a rather narrow track and standing out in the brawling phases in all the heats held. All in a weekend that saw him progressively grow from the point of view of lap performance, to the point of constantly getting closer to the leading positions until the splendid epilogue of the Final, at the end of which he had the great satisfaction of finally getting on the podium and receive the trophy reserved for the winner of the Under 18 category.
After a first day in which the young driver from Buccinasco encountered some difficulties in finding the right feeling with the track, things started to take a turn for the better starting from the qualifying sessions, which took place on the morning of Saturday 14 October. In this circumstance, Alex managed to print a decent 16th time with the personal best lap of 45.403, thanks to which he placed himself in the eighth row at the start of the first qualifying heat. Starting immediately with a knife between his teeth, Zucco recovered five positions in the early stages, before the race was suspended following an accident with the display of the red flag. Having served a penalty for the damage suffered to the nose and restarted from 15th place, the Milanese managed to recover another three positions before the checkered flag, which saw him finish in twelfth place at the finish line. An equally convincing performance then arrived in the following heat, which saw Zucco become the protagonist of a splendid series of overtaking thanks to which he climbed up to eighth place.
Now aware of his potential, the young DR Racing Kart driver returned to the charge on Sunday with the aim of recovering further ground and playing a leading role in the very top positions of the group. The Prefinal, held in the morning, saw him start from tenth position and create a small masterpiece, thanks to which he closed the race with an excellent fifth position at the finish line. Thanks to this placing, Zucco therefore had the opportunity to start from the third row in the highly anticipated Final, which put the Italian Cup up for grabs and was broadcast live on national television. After a good start, Alex showed off a race pace that allowed him to stay close to the leaders, without making any mistakes and maintaining the leadership in the Under 18 ranking until the finish line. The checkered flag then saw him pass in fifth place overall, subsequently crowning him the winner in his category during the awards ceremony held on the podium.

The weekend didn’t start in the best way, given that the first day saw me struggling a bit to get the hang of the track. Once this obstacle was overcome, thanks also to the help of the team, things definitely improved: the qualifying heats saw me recover many positions, on a particularly bumpy and also physically demanding track. I then managed to get a place on the third row for Sunday’s Final, during which I competed with an excellent pace and achieved the best result of the season! I would like to extend a big thank you to my DR Racing Kart team and in particular to Danilo Rossi and my mechanic, as well as to my trainer from Athletica Sports and to all the sponsors who are at our side in this project.
