An extraordinary result that highlights the talent and dedication of the young Lombard driver. In his first appearance behind the wheel of the Formula Renault 2.0, fielded by Viola Formula Racing, he showed no signs of hesitation, improving with each session and fighting like a lion throughout the two races held at one of the most challenging circuits on the international stage. The Mugello event was a prestigious showcase for young Alex, who, during the ACI Racing Weekend, immediately applied his karting experience, proving himself comfortable and competitive in a high-performance car.

From the free practice sessions, Zucco approached his role with great maturity and focus, meticulously following his race engineer’s advice and providing the team’s technicians with valuable feedback to improve the car’s balance. Despite facing a technical issue that prevented him from running in the first session, the Lombard driver authoritatively led his category at the end of Free Practice 2, finishing over a second ahead of his teammate. Zucco’s excellent connection with the car was further highlighted in qualifying, where he secured the third-fastest time in the F2.0 Cup, just over three-tenths off the pole position.

The following day, the highly talented Alex wasn’t fazed by the emotions of his first-ever start in a single-seater race, amidst a grid of nearly forty cars. Starting from 18th overall, Zucco quickly demonstrated an impressive pace, keeping his teammate at a safe distance and overtaking the experienced Karim Sartori. He crossed the finish line in second place, just behind the winner, Jeremy Clavaud. The start of the second race saw Zucco skillfully avoid a major hazard at the beginning, as a stalled car on the grid triggered a multi-car incident. After the Safety Car left the track, the Viola Formula Racing driver fought fiercely until the finish, securing third place, just behind Clavaud and Sartori.

Alex Zucco: “I’m really satisfied with my debut in single-seaters. We prepared for this race with great care, conducting several test sessions to ensure we were ready when it mattered most. The team and I did an excellent job, and the results speak for themselves: the improvements were consistent throughout the weekend, and the double podium finish is a reward for the hard work that got us here. Now, we need to stay focused and think about the next round at Monza, which will be my home race. We’ll aim to do just as well and remain at the top of the standings. A big thank you to my team, Viola Formula Racing, my sponsors, everyone who supports me, and especially my family for the tremendous effort they’ve put in to help make this dream a reality. The road ahead is still long, but we’re happy with the journey we’re on!”

Alex Zucco will return to action for the fifth round of the Italian series organized by Piero Longhi, scheduled for the weekend of October 4-6 at the legendary ‘Temple of Speed’ in Monza.
