Il pilota lombardo del DR Racing Kart si distingue positivamente nel fine settimana sul circuito che a Settembre ospiterà il FIA Karting World Championship
Importante tappa di avvicinamento per Alex Zucco in vista dell’attesissimo appuntamento con il FIA Karting World Championship, in programma sul circuito di Wackersdorf (Germania) dal 7 al 10 Settembre. Il veloce pilota milanese è stato infatti impegnato nel corso del week-end proprio sul tracciato tedesco nell’ambito della manifestazione ‘Road To Wackersforf’, con l’obiettivo di prendere confidenza con una pista sino ad oggi sconosciuta e prepararsi al meglio per la sfida che assegnerà il titolo iridato KZ2.
Il 16enne portacolori del DR Racing Kart si è reso autore di una prova in crescendo, avvicinandosi progressivamente alle prestazioni dei migliori e soprattutto maturando una preziosa esperienza in vista del fine settimana che vedrà i migliori interpreti della disciplina a livello internazionale darsi appuntamento lungo i 1197 metri del circuito che sorge nel cuore della Baviera. Il giovane e grintoso Alex non è riuscito a conquistare l’accesso alla Finale solo in seguito ad un episodio di gara che lo ha oltremodo penalizzato, mettendo comunque in mostra delle ottime potenzialità e fornendo ottimi feedback ai tecnici della scuderia diretta da Danilo Rossi.
Il lungo week-end tedesco si è aperto con la giornata dedicata alle sessioni di prove libere, nel corso delle quali Zucco ha badato ad andare alla ricerca delle traiettorie ideali per interpretare al meglio il tracciato. Le sensazioni sono state subito positive, tant’è vero che già nella giornata successiva il driver di Buccinasco ha più che dimezzato il gap rispetto ai migliori tempi realizzati nella propria categoria, presentandosi con buone aspettative all’appuntamento con le qualifiche. In questa occasione, Alex ha messo in mostra le proprie doti grazie ad un ottimo best lap in 46”456, grazie al quale si è piazzato a soltanto mezzo secondo dalla migliore prestazione cronometrica della sessione, in una caccia al giro veloce che ha visto impegnati ben 81 drivers provenienti da tutto il mondo.
Inserito nel gruppo F per le varie manche di qualificazione, Zucco ha lottato sempre con il coltello tra i denti nelle sfide andate in scena tra le giornate di Venerdì 21 e Sabato 22 Luglio, ottenendo il punteggio necessario per consentirgli di superare il primo sbarramento ed accedere alla fase successiva delle
Superheats. In particolare, nell’ultima batteria il pilota DR Racing Kart si è distinto per una serie di sorpassi spettacolari, rimontando fino ad un eccellente nono posto prima di essere costretto al ritiro in seguito ad un guaio tecnico.
Una volta ottenuto il pass per la Superheats, Alex si è concentrato sull’obiettivo di ottenere il miglior risultato possibile, pur dovendo fare i conti con una posizione di partenza non favorevole. Scattato dalla sedicesima fila, il pilota lombardo ha visto la propria gara condizionata da una manovra decisamente al limite effettuata da un avversario, il quale lo ha spinto fuori pista costringendolo a perdere posizioni e compromettendo il rendimento degli pneumatici. Da quel momento in poi, Alex non ha potuto fare altro se non cercare di portare a termine la gara con i mezzi a propria disposizione, chiudendo sotto la bandiera a scacchi con un 28° posto finale ben lontano dalle sue potenzialità, pur essendo consapevole del grande balzo in avanti perpetrato nel corso del week-end.
Alex Zucco (pilota DR Racing Kart): “Sono sicuramente soddisfatto per l’andamento di questo fine settimana in Germania: l’obiettivo era soprattutto quello di accumulare preziosa esperienza, e devo dire che questi giorni trascorsi in pista mi sono stati molto utili per imparare un tracciato che non conoscevo e prepararmi al meglio in vista dell’appuntamento con il Mondiale. Abbiamo lavorato duramente con il team, crescendo di sessione in sessione ed avvicinandoci progressivamente ai tempi dei migliori: alla fine il gap era davvero risicato e frutto della maggiore esperienza acquisita da parte di alcuni dei miei avversari, anche se noi abbiamo ancora un bel margine di miglioramento che dovremo cercare di sfruttare al massimo. Ringrazio tutto lo staff del mio team DR Racing Kart, gli sponsor e i miei genitori che sono sempre al mio fianco. Adesso ci prenderemo una breve vacanza prima di tornare in pista sempre qui a Wackersdorf tra circa un mese, per un altro appuntamento in preparazione al Mondiale!”
Alex Zucco tornerà in azione nel week-end del 24-27 Agosto per una nuova tappa del ‘Road To Wackersdorf’, con l’obiettivo di proseguire il suo percorso di avvicinamento all’appuntamento con la Coppa del Mondo in programma a Settembre.

The DR Racing Kart driver stands out positively over the weekend on the circuit that will host the FIA Karting World Championship in September
Important approaching stage for Alex Zucco in view of the eagerly awaited appointment with the FIA Karting World Championship, scheduled on the Wackersdorf circuit (Germany) from 7 to 10 September. The fast Milanese driver was in fact engaged during the weekend right on the German track in the context of the ‘Road To Wackersforf’ event, with the aim of gaining confidence with a track unknown up to now and prepare in the best possible way for the challenge that will award the KZ2 world title.
The 16-year-old DR Racing Kart driver was the author of a growing test, gradually approaching the performances of the best and above all gaining valuable experience in view of the weekend that will see the best international interpreters of the discipline meet along the 1197 meters of the circuit located in the heart of Bavaria. The young and feisty Alex was unable to gain access to the Final only following an episode of the race that penalized him extremely, however showing excellent potential and providing excellent feedback to the technicians of the team directed by Danilo Rossi.
The long German weekend opened with the day dedicated to the free practice sessions, during which Zucco took care to look for the ideal trajectories to best interpret the track. The sensations were immediately positive, so much so that the driver from Buccinasco more than halved the gap compared to the best times achieved in his category on the following day, arriving with good expectations for the appointment with qualifying. On this occasion, Alex showed off his skills thanks to an excellent best lap in 46″456, thanks to which he finished only half a second from the best lap time of the session, in a hunt for the fastest lap that involved 81 drivers from all over the world.
Inserted in group F for the various qualifying heats, Zucco always fought with a knife between his teeth in the challenges staged between Friday 21 and Saturday 22 July, obtaining the necessary score to allow him to overcome the first barrier and access the next phase of the Superheats. In particular, in the last heat the DR Racing Kart driver stood out for a series of spectacular overtakings, recovering up to an excellent ninth place before being forced to retire following a technical problem.
Once he got his pass for the Superheats, Alex focused on getting the best possible result, despite having to deal with an unfavorable starting position. Starting from the sixteenth row, the Lombard driver saw his race conditioned by a decidedly borderline maneuver carried out by an opponent, who pushed him off the track, forcing him to lose positions and compromising the performance of the tyres. From that moment on, Alex could do nothing but try to complete the race with the means at his disposal, finishing under the checkered flag with a final 28th place far from his potential, despite being aware of the great leap forward perpetrated during the weekend.
Alex Zucco (DR Racing Kart driver): “I am certainly satisfied with the progress of this weekend in Germany: the goal was above all to accumulate valuable experience, and I must say that these days spent on the track have been very useful for me to learn a track I did not know and prepare myself in the best possible way in view of the appointment with the World Championship. We worked hard with the team, growing from session to session and gradually getting closer to the times of the best: in the end the gap was really narrow and the result of the greater experience acquired by some of my opponents, even if we still have a good margin for improvement that we will have to try to make the most of. I thank all the staff of my DR Racing Kart team, the sponsors and my parents who are always by my side. We will now take a short vacation before returning to the track again here in Wackersdorf in about a month, for another round in preparation for the World Championship!”
Alex Zucco will be back in action on the weekend of August 24-27 for a new stage of the ‘Road To Wackersdorf’, with the aim of continuing his approach to the appointment with the World Cup scheduled for September.
