Nell’ultima tappa prima del Mondiale, il giovane pilota del DR Racing Kart paga la scarsa esperienza sul bagnato pur riuscendo ad ottenere dei risultati incoraggianti nelle batterie di qualificazione. Sguardo ora rivolto verso l’appuntamento iridato del 7-10 Settembre
Un altro prezioso ed utile week-end di gare va in archivio per Alex Zucco, ormai pronto per affrontare l’attesissimo appuntamento con il Mondiale di Karting che andrà in scena sul circuito di Wackersdorf (Germania) dal 7 al 10 Settembre. Il veloce pilota milanese ha infatti affrontato proprio sul tracciato tedesco un’altra tappa di avvicinamento alla sfida iridata, prendendo parte alla terza tappa stagionale del Deutsche Kartmeisterschaft. Al cospetto di numerosi avversari che il 16enne del DR Racing Kart ritroverà tra poco meno di due settimane, Zucco ha messo in mostra la consueta grinta in un fine settimana pesantemente condizionato dal maltempo.
Il giovane portacolori del team diretto da Danilo Rossi ha inevitabilmente pagato lo scotto dell’inesperienza in simili condizioni rispetto ai propri competitor, pur continuando a lottare con il coltello tra i denti in condizioni a dir poco proibitive. Per lui il fine settimana si è concluso amaramente con un doppio ritiro nelle manche finali, ma non senza aver messo in mostra segnali decisamente incoraggianti soprattutto nelle batterie di qualificazione. Un bottino di esperienza che risulterà senz’altro utile per il talentuoso driver di Buccinasco, il quale ora potrà concentrarsi esclusivamente sull’evento più atteso della stagione.
Il week-end nel cuore della Baviera si è aperto per Alex con l’obiettivo di proseguire il percorso di apprendistato iniziato a fine Luglio nella ‘Road To Wackersdorf’, occasione in cui aveva avuto modo di testare per la prima volta le caratteristiche del tracciato tedesco. La pista bagnata ha però reso pressoché inutili i riferimenti precedentemente acquisiti, costringendo il pilota del DR Racing Kart a dover impostare praticamente da zero il lavoro di set-up, dovendo inoltre fare i conti con la poca esperienza sin qui maturata nella sua ancor breve carriera sotto la pioggia. Questo gli ha impedito di andare oltre il 21° tempo in qualifica, facendo comunque segnare un best lap personale in 47.804 a soli otto decimi dalla pole.
Il carattere di Alex è venuto fuori nelle manche di qualificazione, grazie a delle prestazioni coraggiose ed accompagnate da una serie di ottimi sorpassi: nonostante la partenza dalle retrovie, il milanese è riuscito a recuperare diverse posizioni nelle prime due batterie, chiudendo sotto la bandiera a scacchi con un 14° ed un 16° posto. Meno fortunata è stata invece la prova conclusiva, dove l’intensificarsi della pioggia non ha aiutato Zucco a ripetere la rimonta messa a segno in precedenza.
La giornata di Domenica 27 Agosto ha presentato per i concorrenti al via delle condizioni meteo proibitive. La pioggia battente ha complicato la situazione soprattutto per i piloti costretti a partire nella seconda metà del gruppo, alle prese con una visibilità pressoché inesistente. Le due finali hanno quindi registrato numerosi incidenti e contatti tra i piloti, i quali hanno gareggiato su una pista a dir poco allagata: Zucco ha cercato di fare del proprio meglio in simili condizioni, ma alla fine è stato costretto ad alzare bandiera bianca in entrambe le manche, consapevole che la sfida più importante è quella che andrà in scena tra un paio di settimane.
Alex Zucco (pilota DR Racing Kart): “Abbiamo affrontato questo fine settimana con l’obiettivo di incamerare ulteriore esperienza in vista del Mondiale che si terrà tra pochi giorni, ma sin dall’inizio la pioggia ha complicato i nostri programmi. In queste condizioni tutto è diventato più difficile, rendendo anche inutili i riferimenti che avevamo acquisito nella tappa svoltasi su questo circuito a fine Luglio. Ho pagato la mia scarsa esperienza sul bagnato, anche se sono dell’idea che ogni occasione sia comunque utile per aumentare il proprio bagaglio di conoscenze. Adesso il nostro focus sarà concentrato esclusivamente sull’appuntamento iridato: abbiamo lavorato duramente per raggiungere questo obiettivo, e già il solo fatto di poter essere presenti rappresenta un grande successo per me e per tutti coloro che mi sostengono. HEAVY RAIN SLOWS DOWN ALEX ZUCCO AT WACKERSDORF
In the last stage before the World Championship, the young DR Racing Kart driver pays for his lack of experience in the wet track, while managing to obtain encouraging results in the qualifying heats. The goal is now turned towards the world championship appointment on 7-10 September
Another precious and useful weekend of racing is in the archives for Alex Zucco, who is now ready to face the eagerly awaited appointment with the Karting World Championship which will take place on the Wackersdorf circuit (Germany) from 7 to 10 September. In fact, the fast Italian driver tackled another stage approaching the world challenge right on the German track, taking part in the third round of the Deutsche Kartmeisterschaft of the season. In the presence of numerous opponents that the 16-year-old DR Racing Kart driver will meet again in just under two weeks, Zucco showed his usual grit in a weekend heavily conditioned by bad weather.
The young driver of the team directed by Danilo Rossi inevitably paid the price for his inexperience in similar conditions compared to his competitors, while continuing to fight with a knife between his teeth in conditions that were, to say the least, prohibitive. The weekend ended bitterly for him with a double retirement in the final heats, but not without showing decidedly encouraging signs especially in the qualifying heats. A haul of experience that will certainly be useful for the talented driver from Buccinasco, who will now be able to focus exclusively on the most awaited event of the season.
The weekend in the heart of Bavaria opened for Alex with the aim of continuing the apprenticeship process started at the end of July in the ‘Road To Wackersdorf’, an occasion in which he had the opportunity to test the characteristics of the German track. However, the wet track rendered the previously acquired references almost useless, forcing the DR Racing Kart driver to have to set up the set-up work practically from scratch, also having to deal with the little experience gained so far in his still short career under the rain. This prevented him from going beyond the 21st time in qualifying, however setting a personal best lap in 47.804 just eight tenths off pole.
Alex’s character came out in the qualifying heats, thanks to courageous performances accompanied by a series of excellent overtakings: despite starting from the rear, the Milanese managed to recover several positions in the first two heats, finishing under the flag at chess with a 14th and a 16th place. On the other hand, the final stage was less fortunate, where the intensification of the rain didn’t help Zucco to repeat the comeback achieved previously.
The day of Sunday 27th August presented for the competitors at the start the prohibitive weather conditions. The pouring rain complicated the situation especially for the riders forced to start in the second half of the group, struggling with almost non-existent visibility. The two finals therefore recorded numerous accidents and contacts between the riders, who competed on a track that was flooded to say the least: Zucco tried to do his best in similar conditions, but in the end he was forced to raise the white flag in both the heats, aware that the most important challenge is the one that will take place in a couple of weeks.

In these conditions, everything has become more difficult, also rendering useless the references we had acquired in the stage held on this circuit at the end of July. I paid for my lack of experience in the wet, even if I am of the opinion that every opportunity is still useful for increasing one’s knowledge. Now our focus will be concentrated exclusively on the world championship appointment: we have worked hard to achieve this goal, and the mere fact of being able to be present represents a great success for me and for all those who support me.
