Il portacolori DR Racing Kart conferma la propria crescita nel primo appuntamento della serie tricolore conquistando l’accesso diretto alla finale nonostante un week-end fortemente condizionato dalla pioggia
Ancora una prestazione incoraggiante da parte di Alex Zucco, impegnato nel round d’apertura del Campionato Italiano ACI Karting. Il giovane pilota del DR Racing Kart non ha infatti mancato di sfoderare la sua consueta grinta nell’appuntamento andato in scena sul Cremona Karting Circuit, che lo ha visto a confronto con i principali interpreti della categoria KZ2 in un fine settimana fortemente condizionato dal maltempo. Nonostante le prevedibili difficoltà, il kartista di Buccinasco ha confermato quanto di buono messo in mostra sul tracciato lombardo già alcune settimane prima nella WSK Super Master Series, centrando la qualificazione diretta alla finale e due piazzamenti a ridosso della Top-20.
Reduce dalla positiva esperienza maturata nell’appuntamento internazionale, quando si era reso autore di una strepitosa rimonta nella finale culminata con un 14° posto sotto la bandiera a scacchi, il giovane Alex si è presentato con grande determinazione al via del week-end, forte anche del recente conseguimento della licenza ACI Sport per poter gareggiare in monoposto. La giornata dedicata alle prove libere ha visto il veloce pilota milanese inserirsi da subito nel gruppo dei migliori, generando quindi importanti aspettative in vista delle fasi cruciali dell’evento. Sfortunatamente, a complicare i piani di Zucco ci ha pensato l’arrivo della pioggia, che ha finito per penalizzare oltremodo il 16enne portacolori del team diretto da Danilo Rossi, costretto a dover adattare il proprio stile di guida in maniera meno redditizia rispetto ad avversari dotati di una corporatura più robusta.
Dopo aver ottenuto il 29esimo tempo (su cinquanta concorrenti al via) nelle qualifiche, Zucco ha concluso entrambe le batterie eliminatorie in P17, conquistando il punteggio necessario per assicurarsi l’accesso diretto alle due manche finali senza la necessità di dover passare dal ripescaggio. Una bella iniezione di fiducia per il pilota lombardo, il quale non si è poi certo tirato indietro nel confronto con gli avversari: la prima gara, disputatasi Sabato 20 Maggio su asfalto ancora bagnato, ha visto Alex coinvolto in una
collisione multipla al primo tornantino, dalla quale è poi riuscito a emergere chiudendo in P25 dopo una buona progressione nei giri conclusivi. Le cose sono poi andate meglio il giorno seguente nella seconda manche, svoltasi in questo caso sull’asciutto: nonostante uno start non perfetto, Zucco si è reso protagonista di una bella rimonta sin dalle prime battute, scavalcando diversi avversari e mettendo in mostra un ottimo passo, grazie al quale è riuscito a cogliere una preziosa 22esima piazza sotto la bandiera a scacchi.
Alex Zucco (pilota DR Racing Kart): “Non è stato un week-end facile, anche perché l’arrivo della pioggia ha complicato i nostri piani costringendomi a dover adattare il mio stile di guida in modo differente e sicuramente meno redditizio rispetto a gran parte dei miei avversari. Nonostante questo abbiamo portato a termine un week-end in crescendo: i tempi rispetto ai migliori non sono stati affatto male ed insieme al team abbiamo lavorato con grande intensità per cercare di ottenere la migliore performance possibile. Essere in grado di potermela giocare con piloti capaci di ottenere dei titoli iridati sarebbe stato un risultato fino a poco tempo fa impensabile, ma naturalmente voglio cercare di fare ancora meglio mettendo a frutto tutta l’esperienza che sto accumulando durante questa prima parte di stagione. Ringrazio il mio team DR Racing Kart per l’eccezionale supporto, così come la mia famiglia e tutti coloro che hanno fatto il tifo per me anche in questa occasione. Adesso cercherò di ricaricare le batterie per qualche giorno e poi penseremo alla sfida del prossimo mese a Sarno!”

The DR Racing Kart driver confirms his growth in the first round of the Italian series by gaining direct access to the final despite a weekend strongly conditioned by the rain
Another encouraging performance by Alex Zucco, engaged in the opening round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship. In fact, the young DR Racing Kart driver did not fail to show off his usual grit in the appointment held on the Cremona Karting Circuit, which saw him face to face with the main interpreters of the KZ2 category in a weekend strongly conditioned by bad weather. Despite the foreseeable difficulties, the kart driver from Buccinasco confirmed the good things shown on the Lombard track a few weeks earlier in the WSK Super Master Series, achieving direct qualification for the final and two placements close to the Top-20.
Fresh from the positive experience gained in the international appointment, when he had made a sensational comeback in the final which culminated with a 14th place under the checkered flag, the young Alex showed up with great determination at the start of the weekend, strong also the recent achievement of the ACI Sport license to be able to compete in single-seaters. The day dedicated to free practice saw the fast Milanese driver immediately join the group of the best, thus generating important expectations in view of the crucial phases of the event. Unfortunately, Zucco’s plans were complicated by the arrival of the rain, which ended up penalizing the 16-year-old standard bearer of the team directed by Danilo Rossi, forced to have to adapt his driving style in a less profitable way than skilled opponents. of a more robust build.
After obtaining the 29th time (out of fifty competitors at the start) in qualifying, Zucco finished both heats in P17, gaining the necessary score to ensure direct access to the final two heats without having to go through the repechage. A nice injection of confidence for the Lombard rider, who certainly didn’t hold back in the confrontation with his rivals: the first race, which took place on Saturday 20 May on still wet asphalt, saw Alex involved in a multiple collision at the first hairpin, from which he then managed to emerge
finishing in P25 after a good progression in the final laps. Things then went better the following day in the second heat, which in this case took place in the dry: despite a less than perfect start, Zucco was the protagonist of a good comeback right from the start, overtaking several opponents and displaying an excellent pace, thanks to which he managed to take a precious 22nd place under the checkered flag.
Alex Zucco (DR Racing Kart driver): “It wasn’t an easy weekend, also because the arrival of the rain complicated our plans, forcing me to have to adapt my driving style in a different and certainly less profitable way than in most some of my opponents. Despite this we completed a weekend in crescendo: the times compared to the best weren’t bad at all and we worked very hard together with the team to try and get the best possible performance. Being able to compete with riders capable of obtaining world titles would have been an unthinkable result until recently, but of course I want to try to do even better by making use of all the experience I am accumulating during this first part of the season. I thank my DR Racing Kart team for the outstanding support, as well as my family and everyone who cheered me on this occasion too. Now I’ll try to recharge my batteries for a few days and then we’ll think about next month’s challenge in Sarno!”
