Alla sua prima esperienza in carriera nella competizione internazionale FIA, il giovane pilota del DR Racing Kart sfiora l’accesso alla Prefinale pur dovendo fare i conti con alcuni episodi avversi
L’esperienza nel FIA Karting World Championship di Wackersdorf va in archivio per Alex Zucco con una grande dose di esperienza acquisita ed un pizzico di rimpianto. Il giovane portacolori del DR Racing Kart, alla sua prima avventura nella sua ancor breve carriera in una competizione di tale prestigio e visibilità internazionale, ha lottato al massimo delle proprie possibilità lungo tutto il weekend andato in scena sul tracciato tedesco, traendo delle buone indicazioni e cogliendo l’occasione per confrontarsi con i migliori interpreti al mondo della KZ2.
Per il 16enne di Buccinasco, capace di bruciare rapidamente le tappe nel panorama kartistico grazie al proprio talento ma soprattutto ad una dedizione fuori dal comune, la sfida iridata non ha riservato il raggiungimento della Prefinale, ma ha comunque messo in evidenza la sua capacità di potersi confrontare senza timori ai massimi livelli della disciplina. Un risultato frutto della costante crescita e del grande impegno profuso nel corso della stagione, che lascia ben sperare in vista dei futuri step della sua carriera agonistica.
A mettere i bastoni tra le ruote a Zucco in questa occasione è intervenuta anche un pizzico di sfortuna, manifestatasi sotto forma di alcuni episodi poco fortunati verificatisi durante momenti-chiave del fine settimana, in seguito ai quali per lui è stato impossibile raggiungere il punteggio minimo per poter accedere al turno successivo. Al di là di questo aspetto, il lavoro portato avanti dal team diretto da Danilo Rossi è stato come di consueto di altissima qualità, avendo messo a disposizione del giovane driver milanese tutto il supporto necessario per poter ben figurare nell’evento più importante dell’anno.
Zucco ha infatti ottimizzato la precedente esperienza maturata sui 1190 metri del circuito che sorge nel cuore della Baviera, girando sin dalle prove libere a pochissimi decimi dai piloti che poi hanno lottato per la conquista del titolo iridato, in una sfida che alla fine ha visto svettare il tedesco Niels Tröger tra i 119 partecipanti al via. Già a partire dalla prima giornata, Alex ha lavorato in grande sintonia con i tecnici del team, migliorando progressivamente le proprie prestazioni e fornendo importanti feedback in vista delle sessioni successive.
La qualifica, svoltasi nella mattinata di Venerdì 8 Settembre, ha visto Zucco ottenere un proprio best lap personale in 46.514, pur non essendo riuscito a realizzare il giro “perfetto” in seguito ad una piccola sbavatura nel terzo settore della pista. Inserito nel gruppo E, il pilota lombardo si è quindi cimentato a partire dal pomeriggio nelle numerose manche di qualificazione, necessarie per determinare il punteggio utile per accedere alle fasi finali: dopo aver ottenuto un doppio 22° posto nelle prime due batterie in programma ed un 25° in quella seguente, la sfida è proseguita anche l’indomani, con Alex che nel warm-up ha dovuto fare i conti con un piccolo inconveniente tecnico. Una volta risolto il problema, la fortuna non ha aiutato il pilota DR Racing Kart nemmeno nelle successive manche di qualificazione: dopo un promettente 19° posto conquistato in mattinata, dapprima un danno al musetto ed in seguito un guaio al propulsore hanno condizionato le sue performance, impedendogli di conquistare un posto tra i 72 piloti che hanno conquistato il pass per la Prefinale.
Alex Zucco (pilota DR Racing Kart): “Essere presente al Mondiale è stata un’esperienza incredibile, che ha ulteriormente fortificato la mia passione per questo sport e mi ha regalato una grandissima motivazione anche per le mie sfide future. I riscontri sono stati positivi, considerando la mia poca esperienza se messa a confronto con i big della categoria: grazie anche al supporto dei tecnici del team siamo riusciti a crescere molto nell’arco del fine settimana, imparando molto ed acquisendo un bagaglio di esperienza che credo risulterà fondamentale nel mio percorso. Ho lottato sin dal primo giorno ed i tempi sono stati buoni, consentendomi di piazzarmi a pochi decimi dai migliori: il livello era davvero altissimo e bastava davvero una piccola imprecisione per ritrovarsi in fondo al gruppo. Peccato non essere riusciti a centrare l’obiettivo della Prefinale che sarebbe potuto essere alla nostra portata, ma la fortuna non ci ha aiutati soprattutto nell’ultima giornata. Torno a casa comunque soddisfatto per questa esperienza, e motivato come non mai a migliorare ancora: desidero ringraziare innanzitutto il mio team DR Racing Kart per l’ottimo lavoro svolto, così come gli sponsor e tutti coloro che sono al mio fianco, dai miei genitori sino al personal trainer Giacomo che mi ha seguito in questa occasione. ALEX ZUCCO FIGHTS LIKE A LION IN THE WORLD KARTING CHAMPIONSHIP IN GERMANY
At his first career experience in the FIA international competition, the young DR Racing Kart driver came close to reaching the Prefinal despite having to deal with some adverse episodes
The experience in the FIA Karting World Championship at Wackersdorf goes in the archives for Alex Zucco with a large dose of experience gained and a pinch of regret. The young DR Racing Kart holder, at his first adventure in his still short career in a competition of such prestige and international visibility, fought to the best of his ability throughout the weekend staged on the German track, drawing good indications and taking the opportunity to compare himself with the best interpreters in the world of KZ2.
For the 16 year old from Buccinasco, who is able to quickly make a name for himself on the karting scene thanks to his talent but above all to an uncommon dedication, the rainbow challenge did not reserve the achievement of the Pre-final, but still highlighted his ability to fearlessly compete at the highest levels of the discipline. A result that is the result of constant growth and great commitment throughout the season, which bodes well for the future steps of his racing career.Of course, the young Zucco will have to reckon with a parterre of top-level opponents, many of them with a decidedly higher level of experience behind them: but the work carried out especially during this season has allowed the holder of the team managed by Danilo Rossi to improve from every point of view, achieving encouraging results and allowing him to keep believing in his dream.
Zucco was also hampered on this occasion by a bit of bad luck, which manifested itself in the form of a few unfortunate episodes during key moments of the weekend, as a result of which it was impossible for him to reach the minimum score to qualify for the next round. Apart from this aspect, the work carried out by the team directed by Danilo Rossi was, as usual, of the highest quality, having provided the young Milanese driver with all the support he needed to do well in the most important event of the year.
In fact, Zucco optimised his previous experience gained on the 1190-metre circuit in the heart of Bavaria, lapping from free practice within a few tenths of the drivers who went on to fight for the title, in a challenge that in the end saw the German Niels Tröger stand out among the 119 participants at the start. Already from the first day, Alex worked in great harmony with the team technicians, gradually improving his performance and providing important feedback in view of the following sessions.
The qualifying session, which took place on the morning of Friday 8 September, saw Zucco achieve a personal best lap time of 46.514, despite not being able to set the ‘perfect’ lap due to a small flaw in the third sector of the track. Placed in Group E, the Lombardy driver then began the afternoon’s numerous qualifying heats, necessary to determine the points needed to access the final stages. After a double 22nd place in the first two heats and 25th in the following one, the challenge continued the next day, with Alex having to deal with a small technical problem in the warm-up. Once the problem was solved, luck did not help the DR Racing Kart driver even in the following qualifying heats: after a promising 19th place in the morning, first a damage to the nose and then a problem with the engine conditioned his performance, preventing him from gaining a place among the 72 drivers who gained a pass for the Pre-final.
Alex Zucco (DR Racing Kart driver): “Being at the World Championship was an incredible experience, which further strengthened my passion for this sport and also gave me great motivation for my future challenges. The feedback was positive, considering my little experience when compared to the big names in the category: thanks also to the support of the team technicians we were able to grow a lot over the weekend, learning a lot and acquiring a wealth of experience that I believe will be fundamental in my career. I fought right from the first day and the times were good, allowing me to place just a few tenths from the best: the level was really high and all it took was a small inaccuracy to find myself at the back of the group. It’s a shame we didn’t manage to hit the target of the Pre-final, which could have been within our reach, but luck didn’t help us especially on the last day. Anyway, I go back home satisfied with this experience, and motivated as never before to improve further. First of all, I would like to thank my DR Racing Kart team for the excellent work done, as well as the sponsors and all those who are by my side, from my parents to my personal trainer Giacomo, who followed me on this occasion.
